Gaillardia, or Blanket Flowers, have beautiful, vibrant flowers, usually in the reds, oranges, and yellows. They are easy to care for and usually the longest-blooming perennials that love the sunshine—perfect for our Okanagan climate! These flowers do well in the Okanagan in sandy and loamy conditions with damp to dry watering preferences. Plant it in the spring for a great summer bloom.
Gaillardia is also very popular among the butterflies, while at the same time being deer-resistant and rabbit resistant. They are also drought-tolerant.
Expect radiant burgundy, red, and yellow colours from this flower that grows to about 12" tall.
